Firmware Updates
The Tensor’s firmware can be updated via drag and drop using any Mac or PC.
No driver or special software is required.

This firmware package is for circuit board rev. D and later, with serial numbers
108-067000 and above. You can check visually by looking at the opening for
the USB port on the back of the pedal. Rev. D and later Tensors have an opening
with square corners.

You will need a USB Mini B cable to connect the Tensor to your computer.
Downloading new firmware:
1. Go to www.redpandalab.com/downloads#tensor
2. Download the firmware file (.zip) to your computer.
3. Double-click the downloaded zip file to expand.

Caution
* Do not rename the extracted file.
* Never turn off the pedal’s power while an update is in progress.
Otherwise the system software or the pedal itself may be destroyed.

Update procedure:
 1. Hold down the left footswitch and connect power.
 2. The blue LED will blink.
 3. Continue holding the footswitch for 2 seconds.
 4. The blue LED will turn solid. The pedal is now in USB Mass Storage mode.
 5. Connect the pedal to the computer using a mini USB cable.
 6. Open the TENSOR drive on your computer.
 7. Drag the .bin file to the TENSOR drive. The left LED will alternate
green and red while the update is in progress. The firmware update
will take several seconds. If the update procedure appears to pause,
eject the TENSOR drive to complete the update procedure.
 8. After the firmware update is complete, the right LED will turn green.
 9. If an error occurred, the red LED will blink instead.
10. Eject the TENSOR drive from your computer:
Windows: right-click on the TENSOR icon in My Computer and select “Eject”
Mac OS X: click eject button next to TENSOR or drag TENSOR icon
	          to the trash.
11. Disconnect the USB cable.
12. Turn the pedal’s power off.

To check which version of firmware your pedal is running:
 7. Open the VERSION.TXT file in a text editor.

To verify firmware download using MD5 checksum (optional):

You can verify the integrity of the firmware file from the
Terminal or command line. This is usually not necessary.
Mac: md5 <file>
Windows: certutil -hashfile <file> MD5
Compare the the returned string to the string in the firmware update .md5 file.

Troubleshooting:

If the right LED blinks red, turn the Tensor off, then on, and try again.
Confirm that you are copying the .bin file and no other files.

If the firmware update pauses, eject the TENSOR drive from your computer
to complete the update procedure. If that does not work, try the update
procedure again.
